Why partner with Flow?
Some world-changing ideas are so big and audacious they can be viewed as ‘too risky’ to support.
It’s these overly risky ideas that the Flow Foundation like to seek out first.
After more than a decade of investing in the non-profit sector, the Flow Foundation’s unique type of ‘radical generosity’ offers innovating social change makers a unique pathway from risky reliance to sustainable success through access to funds, mentorship, and ongoing support during their first steps towards initiating massive change.
Founder Ray Stark says, ‘Sometimes the right people with the right ideas need extra support to make the right changes for others in the world. The Flow Foundation is committed to offering agile, tailored support to organisations wanting to effect maximum positive impact for people in need.’
The Stark family are big believers in changing the world through ‘radical generosity’.
At the heart of their charitable work is a passion to support people with big, audacious ideas that promise to improve life for others living in situations where access to basic human rights is severely lacking. Through the Flow Foundation, the Starks offer entrepreneurial social change innovators a unique and supportive pathway from risky reliance to indomitable independence.
Businessman, pilot, and Flow Foundation founder, Ray Stark was taught the value of generosity at a young age.
‘Both our parents (Ray & Lynette’s ) didn’t have a lot of wealth in material terms, but they certainly made it up in a wealth of sharing and giving of their time which is engrained into our DNA, so we are just carrying on from our inheritance which is something we enjoy and do naturally.’
For years, the generosity of Ray’s own family was outworked through initiatives supported by the TALKINGtech Foundation, the charitable arm of the company he originally founded in 1986. A portion of company profits were always set aside to support endeavours that improved access to education and healthcare in needy communities around the globe.
After TALKINGtech was sold in 2018, the Starks reimagined how to continue putting their unique brand of ‘radical generosity’ into action. In 2019 the Starks launched the Flow Foundation with a fresh commitment to support and empower pioneering human rights organisations in making positive change around the globe.
In a nutshell?
We believe being radically generous with your time, your money and your skills will change the world.
Our core values
Human RIghts
At the heart of what we do is our belief that all people have the right to live under the protection of the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We are committed to supporting and advocating passionately for innovative organisations that are actively working to restore these rights to marginalised people everywhere.
RISK TAKING
Sometimes powerful change and maximum impact can only occur when big risks are taken. We believe in supporting unpredictable-but unrelenting ventures that larger organisations may steer clear of via our unique brand of ‘radical generosity’. We are also committed to encouraging others to experience the unmatchable good that comes from helping change-makers in their journey from risky reliance to indomitable independence.
Mobilising unique solutions
Throwing money at problems isn’t enough to see brilliant solutions become sustainable. Instead, it requires creative problem solving and a ‘one size doesn’t fit all’ approach. We value the swift deployment of tailored funding, mentorship, and support framework package solutions to effect the largest improvements to human rights possible.
Transparency
We demand that 100% of all donations to the Flow Foundation go to actual projects that help real people, and that all our running costs are privately funded. Our proven track record of success in the non-profit sector is built on the cornerstone of our unwavering commitment to total transparency about where funds and resources are spent.
